    One for the Girls ?

    One for the Boys ?

Do you believe that there really are songs written for the girls and ones that have male listeners in mind ? The motorhead youtube clip imo features a brilliant song that i know plenty of guys think kicks total ass, the celine dion youtube clip is a big fave with the girls, yet leaves most guys feeling nauseous.

What is it about song subject matter that appeals primarily to one sex and is of no interest to the other...........i mean, they are just songs :huh

Halford had a lot of People fooled!

I write, and as a lyric develops I get a sense of what genre it's being directed at, or it could be both.

I shudder to think that Peter Frampton might've written "I'm In You" for the guys...

I definitely think some songs are meant for one gender.

We tend to remind the guys in subtle (and sometimes not subtle) ways that the "girl" songs are very much in their interest, and that they would do well to not only pretend to like them, but to dance to them with said ladies.

I saw Josh Groban a few months ago (with my wife of course). At one point he says "I know most of you guys got dragged here by the girl you're with, but pretend you're having fun and hopefully it will pay off". The kid has a sense of humor.

I think lyrics that go both ways are more interesting.

    "I'm your turbo lover"!!!!

I remember a long time ago I had some good friends who had just gotten married. Some sappy love song came on a juke box or the radio, and the woman said, "There's our song!"

The guy said, "Radar Love is our song."

Listen to Opeth. Their entire thing is mixing "girl" and "boy" parts in the same song.

There's also the Aphex Twin Girl/Boy song.

All I know is...if you are doing a dance gig, stick with the chick songs and leave the "dude songs" alone. IMO
Unless you want fights in front of stage and stuff broken etc...

If a fight breaks out during a gig, just cue up a Rush song. The guys will all fall in line, and the gals will all walk out.
