I am left speechless after playing Arriba's '61 es-335 today with Oscardagrouch and Ron K. at his Radical house studios. This guitar purrs and sings like no other guitar I've played.

Words won't do it justice. Luckily we took a couple vids. :) Not that the camera's mic will do the guitar's tone much justice either.

Thanks Arriba. You've got a very special guitar there.

Wow - tone does not get much better than that, IMO. You could feel that guitar breathing even through the crappy camera phone...

What amp were you guys playing through?

That little white combo belongs to Ron. It's one of the 50 Tone-Machine combos that Greg Germino built for Mojo-tone before he went off to form his own company. We used on old Chandler tube driver to get some crunch at lower volume, so we wouldn't blow out the camera's mic. The guitar sounded incredible straight in with the amp cranked, but it was too loud for the camera.

I got the ES 335 some months ago, and when I first heard her through my '64 Deluxe Reverb, I knew I had found something very special. The perfect set of PAF pickups.
    Over the years I had 3 other '59 ES335's and I still own 2 ES345 from '59,
but this one is over the top. Perfect.

BTW the guitar came with the original sales receipt from 1961. it sold new
for $ 326!! these were the days!

Great guitar. Looks like it just came home from the store.I'd love to get a 61 ES 335 as I was born in 61. $326 was a lot of money in 61. My friend worked for American Motors in 61 and made $2 hr union so that guitar is a months pay back then. That would be $5K today.

    Man...
I have a stock '67 ES335, and that one there sounds better than mine on overdrive...at least with that amp.
    Sweet!

Sweet guitar! Glad you found "the one". I own a '59 ES-335 Historic Re-issue. I swapped the pups for a set of Tom Holmes and had it re-freted with 6100's. Would love to compare it to your '61...

    Holy Cow!

Deeply the real deal - that one is THE sound; it's how they're supposed to sound!

I have one too - a '59 Dot Neck. Real PAF's too, an amazing guitar. But Your's - your's sounds 'freakin GREAT! Truly Arriba, great find. That really is exactly what they're supposed to sound like! It's why we all love 'em!

Great playing by you and John too.

If anybody ever wondered what a PAF was supposed to sound like, that is a prime example.
