For modern bebop rippage, Larry Meyer is the death. Recorded during a lesson, Larry burns his D'Angelico through 2 takes of his tune "Sweet Love", (Sweet and Lovely). Usual apologies for audio and video quality but those who know won't care. May need to update Quicktime if audio does not play.

    Enjoy

    P.S. got chords?

Thanks for that amazing clip. I just love that style of guitar and to see it was even better. In a previous post, you and ScottL discussed digitizing and posting some more of his material. Any progress? Does he have any materials published? I want to learn more!!!!

That's some serious playing and he's really having fun.
I love it when that happens!

    Hey,

I'm glad there was such a positive reaction to Larry's guitar playing (if you couldn't get it to play, borrow a computer!) There is quite a bit of material to share with you although much of it is lessons recorded years ago and may be of dubious quality. If I could just put my hands on the outdoor video footage I captured at Valley Stream NY in 1995 it would take your breath away. Larry is busy trying to get his own site up and it promises to be worth the wait.
He is in the process of finalizing a new re-recording of Joe Pass's Virtuoso using a custom Breedlove steel string, Gibson ES175, Ramirez classical, D'Angelico archtop, and a Les Paul SG. Larry told me that all the tunes were 1 take only and are stupidly smok'in. I will continue to post solo jazz guitar even though Larry plays every style.
