Some people do P90s and humbuckers without the pole pieces - Matt at Monty's does this:

Its a covered humbucker sized pickup with no exposed pole pieces.

Hard to know beyond that unless you know the player in the picture and his pickup preferences.


Ps: its my favorite look for pickups so I put a set of plain covers over the SD P-Rails in my Supro.
