Anyone gave tips on some compressor settings with the Amplifire?

The stock ones are set so loud and I get a ton of white noise. Looking for a funk compressor setting...

Have you actually tried dialing anything in or simply just engaging it? Think of the compressor's drive as a standard compressor's ratio control and set it to a similar setting you would normally dial in.

If you understand compression...a highly compressed signal raises the noise floor substantially. And the Amplifire default compression settings are over the top. By reducing the drive (compression ratio) you are reducing the amount of compression. The new threshold control also allows you to tailor the volume of signal necessary for the compression to engage. Not trying to be rude, but you should probably read a primer on compressors, it will help you a ton in understanding how to set it for the results you desire.

Start by turning the drive down.
Now turn the other controls till you get what you want.
Also the pre/post setting makes a big difference.

Compressors, even those with simplified controls, can be complex affairs. What Will was offering was the knowledge to set them properly. His advice was pretty spot on.

Dial back the compression and make up gain, and you will reduce the level of hiss that you are hearing, which in this case I believe is amplified guitar self noise.

Are you guys sure the drive is the same as the ratio? Usually on a comp, the radio doesn't add drive, it just squeezes the dynamics more giving you more sustain or less of a dynamic range.

I was surprised there was no ratio control myself. Though between the drive and the threshold you can get everything from subtle squish to extreme.
Try drive on 25 and threshold on - 10 db, then adjust the final compressor volume to taste.
