Attenuation

Funny.....I am starting to see the need for an attenuator to have a clean sweep instead of clicks.......Without naming amps.....for my 35 watter it seems to be ok going from 8db cut to 4 db cut during the night and still sitting nicely in the mix ......but my 50 watter....cranked 12dbs gets lost in the mix and 9dbs is too loud.....? So my question for attenuator makers is why does there have to be the click settings.....why cant it be just a sweep knob so you can just adjust to suit....add a little....subtract a little till you hit that right spot??

It can be done, but it requires a wire-wound rheostat which is a lot more expensive than a switch and power resistors. At least you have 3 dB steps. My SE-100 has 6 dB steps. :(

You can also try a Ho or Ultimate attenuator. They have a dial for attenuation level. They work great and sound great.
