Hey folks. I'm curious to hear about your go-to settings on your Blackface Super Reverbs. Recently I've been toying with EQ settings on the Vibrato channel...I may be losing it, my old sweet spot isn't always doing it.
For full disclosure, this is a Early '64 and I did recently have the original alnicos reconed.
    Thank you for you wisdom!

My favorite Derek Trucks tones are with his SR. Note that he keeps the tone on knobs on his SG rolled off quite a bit:

Haha I'm the only square who generally sticks to 3 on the volume, the brightness switch OFF and 5 on the EQ across the board?

Sometimes I crank the mids to accommodate humbuckers and certain pedals in the Marshall vein though.

Thank you everyone! I'm comforted. It seems like I've played with something similar to most of your settings. Just got tripped up after the recone when I was running everything....at 5.

I have a 65. To me the posts above are close to saying the same thing (bright switch off, more mids, less bass, volume somewhere between 3 and 4). I start with the basic settings per the above posts and then find that I have to adjust for the room or gig setting and for the main guitar of the night since the pick ups change things for me quite a bit.

    At home:
V: 3 or less (low input)
TMB: Generally all on 5, with small adjustments per guitar.
    R: 4

    Up at volume:
    V: 5-ish (high input)
    T: 6, M: 5, B: 4
    R: 2 1/2 - 3

    Bright switch always off.

V6, T3, M7, B3. Bright switch off. Of course I haven't been able to turn it up that loud in years.

Looks like Mr.Trucks subscribes to the Magic Mystical Six approach...darn near anyway. I'm very afraid of that bright switch however.

He only picks with his fingers though, that helps a lot.

This is close to what I would do most often. I have heard of players who dime the tone controls though.

    That's very specific mate!

Do you mean you just go a hair over 3?
