Anyone knwo what he uses? I am especially interested in the drive pedal he used at the Gibson event to boost his Matchless.

What amps and pedals do you currently use?
Amps: Matchless, Fender, Germino, Dr. Z, and a bunch of others. Effects: Timmy, Boss, Teese, Line 6, Fulltone, Keeley, Demeter, Z Vex, Hughes and Kettner, Radial, Analog Man, Pro Analog and I'm sure I'm forgetting some.

    Straight out of an interview.

For the Gibson event wasn't he just using a Analogman Beano Boost into the Matchless Lightning?

Anyone know what speakers in the cab under the Matchless Lightning head at the Gibson event?

Very cool video, thanks. I hear about Audley Freed a lot, but never really had much of an example of what he did.

Some guys just "have it", and it's a thing that's clear and evident even when they're just playing straight chords. He's one of those guys. I could listen to him play all day.

    Hey 3 Mile...
I know exactly what you mean. That's a great sounding guitar. Course, it might have something to do with the player...

I've seen him use an Eternity live through a Dr Z (66 I believe).

I like that he lists Kossoff, townsend and malcom young as tones he goes for.

    Top player.

Such a great player. And the props he gives to the classic players is great. I like how he is using his knowledge of theory, but in a very casual non condescending manor.
I can really relate to his overall musicianship and attitude.

Audley is a great guy. We met in the mid to late 80s. Our girlfriends were roommates....no lie. He and Pepper Keenan (COC, Down) used to be around a lot, as were members of Cry of Love (Robert, Jason). Anyway, back then when he was with Cry of Love he was primarily playing his red home made strat into either a Marshall (Silver Jubilee??) or Bogner Extacy. Not sure about an overdrive, but he used an early Fulltone Deja Vibe quite a bit. Audley in recent years has changed his gear around to best compliment the band, as a true gentleman would, such as the Dixie Chicks, Peter Frampton, Black Crowes and Joe Perry.

So was the rest of the crowd. I wish I had a dvd of that show. It was killer.

Looks pretty similar to what I saw in using a couple of weeks ago playing with Keith Gattis in Nashville except there was a Timmy on his board I'm thinking maybe where the OCD had been.

He was playing what looked like a '56 Reissue LP Goldtop and a Senn Telecaster that had been fitted with a B-Bender into the Matchless 15 watt.

I met Audley on a few occasions in Nashville in the last couple of weeks as he is friends with the guys who were producing us. He seemed a very humble and nice guy.

    hey Todd,

Unfortunately we only caught a few songs of Audley playing with Keith Gattis as our session ran late but there was certainly some mighty impressive guitar playing with those two guys.
