It's off South Lamar. Bill Webb is the amp tech/Builder. Eric Johnson takes all his amps to be worked on there. I got to meet Eric about a month ago when he was taking in his 67' Marshall head into be looked at.

I'll second Austin Vintage Guitar. That's where Eric Johnson often takes his equipment or so I've been told. I met Eric Johnson there once, and a buddy of mine met him there a different time and said EJ was having an amp worked on. I don't know the guy's name, but the owner is really nice. They also have great equipment for sale. That place is top notch. They did some work on two 1960's amps I had and got them to sound better than when I bought them.

These guys really know what they are doing.

I don't believe Al at Judybox is doing tech work... he's quite backlogged on his own production, and I expect those amps are his priority...

I've had good luck with both Jon at Tonecraft, and Bill Webb at Austin Vintage... I don't hesitate to recommend either one.

Alan Durham, maker of the Durham Sex Drive, works over at Music Makers in Austin. He's fixed a couple of amps for me and did a great job. He works on my brother's too. Good guy too.

Allen Does not work there anymore, I believe most of his time is going to the sex drives. But I agree, he's real good.

Well, it appears there are at least three of us "pro-techs" in Austin...
I would be glad to help you... (I'm North Central.)

Bill Webb @ Austin Vintage Guitars is friendly to good olde Marshalls. I swear I read that in a urinal somewhere down on 6th Street!

Bill and Steven are total pros and all around cool guys. No worries.

Bumping this old thread. Is this info still valid? Any other techs here who are good? I may need an amp tech soon, I've got a Carvin Legacy that needs help.

And Al Nelson went up in smoke along with Judybox, leaving a bad aroma behind. Think Robert Hudson.:mob

Wasn't there some sort of "time management" issue with Nelson?

Bill and Steve and the guys at Austin Vintage Guitars always are top notch. They're the only one I trust with my amps. The Fulton Webb amps are killer too, I love my FW 17.
