in my jazz lessons, me and my teacher have been working on the raised 2 voicings on the first 4 strings. maj7 min7 dom7 and m7b5. we have also looked at how to change these chords into 9th chords to make them sound more jazzy. we then took these concepts and applied them to autumn leaves.

he started me off learning the song in 4 different positions on the neck using the raised 2 voicings. now, my homework is to mix the positions together and try to use them all.

so i thought i'd record my progress, and post it here for comments and critiques.

Took a listen and sounded great.
Had a friend of mine do the same song/progression he learned from tab and he is a metal player.
He posted it on youtube......It is great to hear guys to get back to some of the roots of jazz!

Cool playing. I have actually listened to your stuff before when you posted something about a band and not getting paid for your skills. Which you should be.

Keep it up, Rich! I am sorry I don't look in this forum as often as I should. PM me if you post clips. Seriously.

Lots of cool sounding voicings! I like what you're doing in there. My one big regret is I never got guitar instruction back at the time (I majored in music in Jr. College, and took jazz theory, etc.). The work you're putting in now will yield multiple benefits as you continue. Keep up the good work! :BEER

thanks for taking the time to listen to it guys.

one thing i would have changed now that i listen to it again, would be to take out the piano and just have bass/drums.
