Avatar 4x12 Cab Question

This is a dumb question, but is there anyway to remove the back panel to see the speakers? I just got the cab and it sounds awsome, more than i expected, but i want to make sure that i got the speakers i ordered.

I removed the input jack and was able to see the Vintage 30's on top, but it is IMPOSSIBLE to look at the bottom speakers through that tiny hole. I just want to make sure that i got the G12H30's on the bottom.

Not that I know of, just take off the grille and take one of the bottom speakers out to look at it.

Here's the best way to be at peace with your cab, listen to it. If it sounds good, don't worry about it. I'm being serious. How would you feel if you loved the cab and found out there were different speakers in it?

That won't happen, but wouldn't it blow your mind?

It does sound awsome, and if they turn out to be different speakers hell, next time i order another cab ill get those. I dont wanna take off the speakers, i just want to look at them. Be sure i got the right speakers.

From your post I have to assume the back is not removable. Then the grill will be and the speakers will be loaded from the front. Therefore the only way to see the back of the speaker is to remove it. They have to be removable so it shouldn't be that hard. Just be careful it really isn't that big a deal.

My thoughts exactly. First of all, Dave at Avatar is great and would not give you the run around. Secondly, who cares what's in it? If you like the tones, don't look. It will only make you want to try other things that will probably lead you back to the original, only with less $$ for other gear. Leave it be.

I have seen countless people love their setup until they look at either a tube or a speaker, and then claim they are disappointed that xyz tube or xyz speaker was not used. The old "I'll improve it with some NOS Mullard tube (that probably is half dead by now) or some special speaker" will only usually ruin it for you. I try not to know what is in there and if I like the tones, I don't want to know.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. You might improve something by a small percentage, but the odds are you're gonna screw up what was not broken.

I do encourage trying different tones, but if you are happy with it, don't mess with it. If you change a tube it might sound a little better, but then if you change the position of the amp in the room everything changes. Just go with it if you like it.

I repeat, i am EXTREMELY happy with the tone i get, the cabinet just rips. period. I just want to make sure i got the speakers i ordered, if i look and by any chance its another speaker then ill be very happy and get the same combo when i order another 4x12 cab.

Like i said i just want to make sure i got what i ordered.

P.S Avatar is awsome, Dave is a great guy and their cabs are the best bang for the buck. Go avatar.

Hey, it can't hurt to check. I received a 2x12 from Avatar that had the correct type of speakers, but the incorrect impedance. Mistakes do happen.

Dave was qucik to make things right for me though.

Just like 908SSP said, the back is not removable and the speakers are front mounted, so the ONLY way to see them is to take one of the speakers out.

I have a 4x12 as well, glad you like yours, I'm not sure if I could even beat this thing value-wise with something used, it's great.

Thanks a lot for all the replies, i really didnt want to mess with taking the speakers off and such as i dont know much bout that, so i took the input jack plate off, stuck my hand inside with my cell phone and took pictures . Yep, exactly what i ordered, and I LOVE IT!. The G12H30's are AWSOME!

Let me know how you like the cab after more time with it. I have an Avatar 2x12 w/V30 & G12H30, open back, and I love it.

I am thinking of ordering another with a closed back, or ordering a 4x12 setup like yours, 2 V30's & 2 H30's. Keep me posted on the cab. I might order one just like it.

VIN 30's are recognizable at the dust cover by the exposed, doped lead that can be seen from the front of the speaker if I recall but I'm not sure if the G12H30 has anything particular about it from the front. As mentioned, just remove the front screws and pull them out and take a gander. Dave leaves plenty of harness wire inside to pull the speaker out of the hole several inches. Enought to see the back of the speaker no problem.

Sure man, been playing non-stop since i got the cab and i love it. I can achieve so many different tones with it it just pawns.
