New Avatar Cab 2x12 is 30"W x 24.5"H x 12"D weights 50 pounds with speakers. $439 Bogner 2x12 Cab - 25 3/4" height x 29 3/4" width x 11 7/8" depth, 79 pounds $799 Bogner is almost 30 pounds heavier? What is in that think lead? Anyone have the new Avatar wonder how close it sounds?
Just from looking at the Avatar website their new cabs look close to the 2x12 Mojo Marshall-style cabinet. I think the Bogner cabinet is supposed to have extra bracing throughout the cabinet, but I haven't even been in the same room with one of'em.
I have never played a Bogner but yesterday afternoon my Avatar Premier came and I played it all last night...breaking it in The workmanship is flawless and it sounds great. I got it in Brown with the Fender style grill with a Red Fang/Cannabis Rex speaker mix. The speakers sound good together and should sound even better as they break in...a nice mix of American/British, Ceramic/Alnico, Smokey/Sparkley. I wish I had today off. Can't wait to spend more time with it tonight...couldn't be happier.
Wow. The Avatar is 50 lbs shipped and about 45 out of the box. Maybe the Bogner has metal bracing inside the shipping box to protect it? Only worked half a day and played off and on all afternoon into tonight. Sounds sweeter each time...at this rate the speakers should be broken in by Sunday
Cool. I may get one of these loaded with Classic Lead 80's. I think it will fit my high gain lifestyle to the tee! BTW Im thinking closed back?Any thoughts on this?
My Avatar 212H has a pair of CL80s in it, I love that configuration, they are fantastic rock speakers.
heh-heh. Not that it matters but the was supposed to go at the end of the "metal bracing" comment, not at the end of the post...but I'm glad to have provided Doug a chuckle. Especially since I read every single post of the Emi thread which is why I ended up picking the Emi speaker mix that I did. They sound better every day. Rockon1: You can talk to the guys at Avatar about getting an open back panel if you order the closed back and switch them out. I don't remember what the cost of the extra panel is but I don't think it was that much.
This cab looks alot like the bogner 2x12 oversized I just got a few months ago. I LOVE the Bogner and got a decent price on it used. It IS heavy. I had an avatar 2x12 that the Bogner replaced and for the money...the avatar cant be beat. WHat I was looking for was the slanted baffle and better projection. The Bogner is an exellent cabinet. I'm sure the avatar is too. I wish I could side by side them. Anyone in Minneapolis pick one up feel free to let me know.
