Yes. I simultaneously run Output 1 to my computer/monitors and set up an effects loop (output 2) just before the cab sim to a standard 2x12. It work great.

Yep, that's the way to go. It's also in the Tips section at the end of the manual.

Yes, it works just as described and for an added bonus I discovered that if you insert the FxLoop block on a different row, you can insert an EQ block ahead of that for separate stage monitoring control. I am running output 1 into a FRFR speaker system (cabinet sims ON) and the loop out into a Hafler G150 and 4x12 Cab (cabinet sims OFF). The more I understand and tweak this system the better it all sounds.
