I decided to be an adult and face up to the fact that the Axe Fx II was overkill for me.
There were some tones I'll definitely miss more than others.
If I could have 2 or 3 of them I wouldn't feel as much remorse.
Anything out there with something close to the, for example, Axe Fx II version of the 1987X?

ElevenRack is really good. For the money it is by far the best there is in my book. I had one before, sold it and then sold my AxeII and will buy an Eleven Rack if the need for a modeler enters my mind again.

The AxeFX Standard has the 1987X amp in it. Used you can get one for ~$1100 these days. A bit more then the 11r, but far less then the Axe II.

    +1 on the 11r

It's not the Axe Fx in model, effects, and routing options, but what it has sounds really good. I equate it to a Pedalboard into Amp rig.

I'm in a similar situation. Bought Axe2, loved the tones, but thought it was overkill for my needs so I sold it. I have a POD HD500 which is not bad, in some ways the 11R is better, but I would suggest waiting for the new Boss GT-100 to be released and see how it pans out in real world usage. It should be available in the next month or two.
