  1. rehearsal

  2. band practice

  3. I don't care, or I'm not in a band!

Started off as jam group, got our first gig scheduled for the end of may if things turn around. We still call it jam.

Yes, I was one of those 15 year old kids doing it in my parent's house. But there were only a few bands doing it well in my area of LA back then and the rest of the kids came to watch. Like that doctor I mentioned, it took hard work and devotion to our craft to get to the point of being able to perform. If it was easy, everybody would do it. Most people could do it to a point, but it takes hard work. And some, even quite a few here on TGP, never do get out of their living room.

To be honest, I don't know that I enjoy doctors referring to their work as their practice.

Have you got .011 diameter strings on that Strat? I put a new set on mine on 02/29/20.

    Here's a question

When someone has a piece of equipment they need to use at a gig, do they bring it to a gig or take it to a gig?

As long as everyone is on the same page I don't think it matters.

Depends on if the gig is uptown or downtown.

I judge music stands on a case by case basis. ;)

On one hand, I don't really care what it's called, though I find rehearsal can seem pretentious. On the other hand, I've had to be that a*****e who kicked someone out of a band because they wouldn't practice outside of band time. Maybe if that distinction had been made clear it would have made a difference, though I doubt it.

I call it in most case scenarios as "waste of time"

Right. I've said for years "Practice and home and rehearse at practice". It used to me my signature here until I became one of those people who didn't practice at home enough!

    In our cover band:
Rehearsal=Honing the performance for a show.
    Practice=Woodshedding
Two of the four of us have to travel over an hour to our rehearsals. Everyone needs to know thier parts.

Strangely enough, you can adjust the amount of posts per page. Ergo, not everyone is on the same page.

Doesn't matter what you call it. Its the best part about being in a band. Have a few buddies over, drink a few pops, talk ****, tell dirty jokes and rock out way too loud with no inhibitions.
