Need a good medium plus gain pedal.

Some youtube clips of the Direct Drive sound great and others sound harsh. This pedal gets a lot of praise but others have sold it.

How good is it or what did you replace it with?

Get the B-Custom Super Sport very full sounding pedal compared to the DD... very tweakable as well!

The DD is great flat eq dirt. The SS is great as well but has more color to tone. I use both.

I enjoyed my DDSS while I had it but I went back to TS-type dirt.

You gotta try it for yourself to see if you like it. You can get one on the emporium for like $80.

I like the DD. I've tryed a few and this one's a keeper. I like it better than some expensive pedals that I sold.
Bought mine here for $80 shipped.

I love the Direct Drive. Hell of a pedal... I don't believe I went as long as I did without it.

Awesome pedal. The DDSS has been my primary OD for several years. I still don't quite understand why Barbers don't get much respect in the marketplace.

The B-Custom SS can do a great TS meets Marshall tone. I set mine to the 808 Killer setting with a few tweaks and it sounds great for AC/DC style OD. I prefer a TS or TIM for light OD and use the Barber when I want a heavier, fuller sounding OD.

DD is my "desert island" dirt. Works great with every amp/guitar combo I have.

    1+1+1+!!!!

The Direct Drive is a great, natural sounding OD- By this, I mean I find that with the Bass and Presence trimpots, it is easy for to preserve the EQ I get from just Guitar>amp (in my case with DD at say medium Drive, I can make the DD sound similar to a TS w/o low end loss- BUT also w/o some unnatural-sounding boost). Add this to a great Gain range (pure clean boost too, with Drive OFF there is no added distortion), I just think it kicks ass for those that really love their guitar>amp tone.

Dave B. has a hell of a set of ears in designing this OD- an affordable "future classic"! :aok

My DD Super Sport sounds great! I just got one and am really impressed. It just sounds awesome right out of the box. Barber really got the voicing right! It captures a cranked amp feel very well.

Simple layout with ample tweakability. IMHO if you want a somewhat Marshall-voiced vintage rock tone plus flexibility, this is it.
