I’m a bit late to the party, I just bought one of these mostly to the glowing reviews, very tight and amp like, like an OD Chanel on an amp. Excellent pedal, this one is a keeper. Think I’m covered for OD now, ARC Klone, Bogner Blue and Barber Gain Changer.

One of the absolute greats. I haven't found a Barber I haven't loved playing live. Great choice - enjoy!

It's the only Barber I've tried, but I was amazed at the instant Jimi sounds I was getting after a minute or two (not what I was expecting or even going for). That's something, but I was also pleased(?) to find that it could easily replace my old standby RAT (high gain mode, gain set low-medium) and be so much more versatile to boot. Sounds really pretty for all around lighter gain stuff as well... I took a gamble on a used one not really knowing what it was about and now I feel a bit guilty, like I should give it away and buy a new one from Barber for making such a great OD.

You could just buy another, different settings.

Did you buy a current release Gain Changer SR, or is it one of the original cream ones with the black, plastic knobs? I've had both and they are both really good.

I hate most overdrive pedals out there, but I love the GC, it's pretty good!

Got mine when they were first released. It has never left my pedalboard while others have come and gone. My absolute favorite pedal.

The Gain Changer SR is definitely the best pedal I have found for natural sounding overdrive at lower volume (with a blackface fender amp). Left toggle set left, right toggle set right.

What's the difference? I have the older cream colored one, my favorite eq setting is middle which i think is the v2

I bought one GC, for the reviews are so good.
Actually, my Boss OD-3 keeps beating it over and over.

It’s a fixture on my small board. Very flexible and dynamic. The flat+fat tone toggle position is ideal with Fender amps and SC guitars. I like the UnLtD setting but the lower gain setting with the gain knob around 2 o’clock is perfect... very open and sounds great.

I think DB owes me a couple endorsement $ for how often I sing the praise of the GC! LOL. ;)

I don't remember other than the eq is different in each and the SR has a little more clarity. It has been a while since I had either one.
