I have lots of great pedals,
    Hermida Zendrive2
    Plum Crazy Fuzzy Lady
    Red WitchPentaVocal Tremolo
    Empress Para Eq
    TC HoF

    and more, more.

BUT, I have an amp that sounds stellar on its own for blues.
I have a Fender SuperSonic 60 and it has wonderful CASCADING gains
that will kill any od pedal because the "pedal" is the 2nd gain in the cascade.
    (or is it the 1st?)
My Zendrive cannot sound better than the amp, it can offer a more chirpier attack that is the trademark Robben chirp, but the amp gets it too.

This would mean that if I don't need an od to get blistering paint peeling tone then I don't need any pedals going into the front of the amp.
All my pedals, if needed can go through my effects loop, but I don't need them.
Except my lonely 1++ BBE wah that will pump the preamp.

    What is your blues setup???

way huge green rhino into boss blues driver = instant blues power for me. It is my lead tone but i use them seperate for less gain. My amp is a weak one, it is one of those epiphone valve junior stack things 5 watts only a volume knob. but i have soon to be 3 kids under of the age of 3 so volume being low is key also live in townhouse subdivision so have a neighbor attached to the one side of my place got lucky with corner unit.

When i use to have my HRD i saw the supersonic, i just didn't have the funds at the time. I later sold the HRD due to the weak drive channel and needed funds for bills. I would always use a drive pedal even with a 5 grand amp just to add different flavors or different levels of gain...

G&L Legacy--> AD30TC. I can cover a ton of ground with just my guitar & amp, especially with the Legacy's EQ.

But to really get ALL the tones I want in electric blues, I'd have to throw in my AM Sunface.

low wattage amp set to break up, an overdrive pedal and guitar set to neck pickup.

    Fender amp and guitar!

edit: OK, I use a stock Blues Driver (for low gain breakup and swing blues) next to a Barber Direct Drive at moderate Drive for everything else and can cover just about any blues/blues-rock dirt sounds neeed, but 99% of what I consider to be great tone is coming from an old Deluxe Reverb!

I like boogie a la Hooker or Jr. Kimbrough, etc. for me it's a Sunface and KOT (or Beano). Leave the Sunface on and adjust the guitar volume for leads. Add the KOT as a gritty always in base tone (red side) with the yellow side cranked to help the leads pop out a little. The Sunface Beano combo works well too. I have all three just in case. Playing an R4 with P90/Alnico V pickups into a '97 Budda 18 watt TwinMaster. Great, gritty, grimey soul in spades.

Pretty much this although I might also use the Bridge pickup from time to time.

I like a couple of "bare bones" rigs. My main rig is a 5e3 and in the right setting (where you can run the volume where one would like) it is killer. No pedals guitar into the amp just pick attack and guitar volume knob. The other rig I like is my AC15C1 which (for a NMV amp) works great as well. It deals with quieter settings pretty well and does a great job. It is pretty pick responsive and volume responsive, but as it is a MVA I tehn to rely more on the preamp section of that amp which is a different tone.
