Awesome, awesome show on HBO. Will be very easy to come down from GoT finale with this one.
I haven't watched Game of Thrones, but I've enjoyed John Oliver describing how screwed HBO is going to be when it ends.
I'm not loving the show as much as I did at first, and I put the blame squarely on the lead actress. I'm finding her more and more obnoxious, and I'm cringing every time she goes into one of those over the top monologues.
I saw an interview with Hader last week where he was talking about the little girl who kicked their asses in the last episode. He said a friend had told him about this girl and her gymnastic abilities. After he thought about it he decided he had to write an episode with her in it, even though it really didn't follow the original story line.
So the show is a bit all over the place as far as it's plot and linear story. Which Hader said he doesn't really care, he's just having fun doing it.
I love the show, but If Henry Winkler's character gets killed off (after the last scene this past Sunday night)
The show will have officially jumped the shark, unless Hader writes the script with Winkler jumping over the hidden car. That could change the course of Hollywood for the next 30 years with over done shows that should have ended last season "jumping the car".
She had a doozy last night when running lines with Hader....I just like their attempted balance of humor, drama, weirdness, left turns, surprises, great acting, etc. I don't know how the Noho Hank storyline ties in other than the great lines from Hank, perhaps that comes together in the finale.
Yeah that monologue must have been extremely hard to deliver. So fast and long and just relentless.
I think she is perfectly portraying the kind of self-absorbed young actress that Barry would be most likely to meet in an acting class like that. She's not very good, not nearly as good as she thinks, but she's always degrading the other students and talking about all her integrity while her reel includes only ridiculous random bit parts.
10-to-1 there's a real person they've based her on.
I genuinely enjoy how awful her character is as a person.
Yeah....last nights tantrum nearly gave me a seizure....I don't know, It might be just me, but something about her just bugs me. And this isn't a critique of the woman's acting abilities....just of her characters irritating personality.
Something about the character or something about the performance?
It's true of nearly every character on the show, really. They all want to think their terrible actions are justified with their only reasoning being "I'm not a bad person, I just did some bad things!"
Only Hank seems to have any sense of morality or code of ethics, and he's done more horrible things than anyone else.
It's supposed to.
yeah...I'm not feeling it....maybe it's because I've known a few like her and have made it my life's work to avoid that personality type whenever possible.
Yes, I agree, it's supposed to.
The character....her performance was excellent.
I Started the leftovers. I heard that one actually has a satisfying ending plus I can binge it before my $15 one month HBO Now sub is up
Isn't that what good acting is all about?
Yes, good acting should make the viewer feel something. Her good acting made me feel like strangling her....which I really do not consider a good thing. But....I do know what you mean.
Season 2 just flat out takes off! Enjoy, it's a good one!
Barry...I like it a lot! For those who like Barry, check out "Get Shorty".
Nurse Ratched from One flew over the cookoo's nest is a great example of this. A truly evil character delivered with an Oscar worthy performance by Loise Fletcher. I was definitely hoping Nicholson was successful when he tried to strangle her.
