Basic Audio Scarab vs Scarab Deluxe

Title says it all. Ill be ordering tomo. Im kind of torn between the two. Which and why? I know the Scrarab doesnt have the bias and fat knob. But if it did where would the bias be set in comparison to the deluxe? I play a strat thru Port City pearl.

I want versatility, a fat full sounding fuzz that retains the lows. It seems the obvious answer would be the deluxe. Im just loving the scarab demos. The Deluxe is really the Scarab with a few more tone shaping options correct? If thats the case I guess the Deluxe it is ..

Just got a Deluxe and couldn't be happier. I think the extra versatility is worth it, because it allows for more fun over the years. It can be full and fat like a Muff or it can really cut. I can't see myself ever getting rid of my Scarab Deluxe or Spooky Tooth. You should also check out the Foxey Lady from Basic Audio. Cheers!

I've never played the standard Scarab, but I have the deluxe and it's one of my favorite fuzzes hands down. I use the bias and fat control ALL the time, I would definitely miss them if I only had the standard version. I would definitely recommend going with the deluxe, it's ridiculously versatile.

I agree with this completely.

Deluxe all the way.

With the fat control, and the tone control you can get it to sound as thick or thin as you want. Even with the fat maxed out, it won't get "flubby" in the low end.

With the bias control, you can turn it down for spitty, "gated" sounds, or turn it up (and turn the gain down) to get the some cool low-gain overdrive tones.

That's another cool thing that's worth mentioning about the Scarab: the gain control has a nice range. I find that on many fuzz pedals the gain knob is basically "on or off", but the Scarab's gain knob is usable even if you turn it down a bit, or down to about
2 o'clock.

The Bias and Fat controls really are the keys to making the Scarab Deluxe awesome. I also haven't played the regular Scarab, but I highly, highly recommend the Scarab Deluxe.

Another vote for the Deluxe. Never played the standard, but those 2 controls are very useful unless you want more limited tonal options.

Done .... Just ordered one ... Like a boss ...
And now the wait begins .... U know what I hate tho? U buy a pedal, and then ur like " hmmm I wonder if this, or that pedal would be better" ... Hate that man!
