Hospitalized due to diabetes complications.....
Wow - that's 'mos 'def NOT good news.
Hope in our hearts for BB, Dana O.
i refuse to believe it..BB will live forever.
Hate to hear that.
He's definitely had a good run, all things considered and hopefully he'll have quite a bit longer but that day will not be a happy one.
Complications could be anything. Hopefully it falls on the lower end of anything.
B's been such a huge part of life for so long now my visual images of him are still of a younger man...it's all I see.
He's old and wildly out of shape. The fact that he made it this long is amazing.
I think he might be done touring at this point. Maybe he can get a residency going somewhere in Vegas and people can still see him play.
A world with BB King in it is better than a world without BB King!
Long live the King!
My prayers for his best well being.
Hope he gets better soon and gets back to doing what he loves.
Good info, except BB King is 89 years old.
Thoughts and prayers going out to the King of Blues. He has inspired and influenced so many people. And then there's all the wonderful music he's created.
Thoughts and prayers for the legend. Hoping he gets better and can take it easy. I agree about no more touring, just play a regular house gig somewhere like Les Paul did.
Hoping for a speedy recovery for BB. Take time to remember B.B. at an earlier time than past 10 years or so and remember how great and what a treasure he is.
Yes, you are right. I deleted my post. It was inappropriate in this thread. Sorry.
I hope BB is going to be ok.
Guys, I love BB as much as anyone, but the facts are the facts. He's very old and he's very sick (and he may be getting sicker).
I'm pretty sure he ain't coming back from this one. I'm getting ready to mourn.
Of all the times I've heard the cliche "A world without so-and-so is not a world in which I wish to live", this time is totally apt.
I'm going on an all BB diet this week (and probably next).
Do you have a link to specifics about what he's going through right now, other than "hospitalized for diabetes-related emergency"? I hadn't seen anything that elaborates or says he's on his deathbed.
The report I found was that he was dehydrated.... Might not be a show stopper if managed well and if he can pull through.
He had this same thing happen last year. He has type 2 diabetes. If you are diabetic and your sugar level increases past the normal range, it stimulates your kidneys to flush out the excess sugar. If you don't get replacement liquid fast enough, you get dehydrated. This leads to fainting, weakness, low blood pressure, etc.
I heard on NPR that his daughter said he's doing better this evening now that they have him rehydrated.
Dehydration is a problem in general for old people. They don't feel thirsty as often as younger people and end up not getting enough liquid.
Like everybody else, I'm hoping for a speedy recovery.
I'm hoping you made your move too soon. Sounds promising from the latest information.
