Well, I've finally broken the back on basic home recording techniques. Like, I've figured out how to get noise into my computer and get the parts lined up and so on. I've obviously got miles to go before anyone would consider me good at it. But I'm here to tell you, the M-Audio ProjectMix I/O board and interface and Ableton Live 5 are the recording moron's buddies. Now if I could just get the drum pads to work, I wouldn't have to use a canned drum part.

Anyway, here's a total of about 4 hours' worth of work, including rendering and converting time. I'm just amazed at how much can be done in such a short time with DAW software and interfaces. Apologies for the length and size - 5 mins/2.5 MB.

Next steps: learn how to play and how to sing. How hard can that be? :)

Good job Dave, nice guitar tones.

A touch of compression and reverb would help the vocal sit better.

Thanks, Martin. Funny thing is, there IS a touch of reverb and compression on the vocals. I was just afraid of overdoing it. Guess I should try to be a little less timid with them!
