These being one knobRs, what are the difference between the two? Is the Cot50 just a full range version of the two? Or is there more going on inside the guts on the cot50. Can I get a good A/B of the two?

    Thanks!

They are in no way intended to be similar IMO. Maybe someone can say they overlap in some way, but I have played them both and they are Apples and Aardvarks.:crazy

i've had both and they're totally diff't circuits but both sound great.... there's probably some low settings where they could sound somewhat similar, but at higher settings each pedal will sound totally diff't.

cot50 sounds like a marshall plexi with 6550 tubes.... the beano is a rangemaster clone which sounds very different.

All one-knob pedals are in fact the exact same circuit.

I have a Scott's Crispy Cream, not a Beano - but I think they are probably comparable.

IMO - the CoT50 Red I have is very similar to a treble booster type sound, but it is not quite as honky sounding when maxed and more dynamic/responsive to your picking. It's also much more complex tonally - I guess you could call that 'full range', but the CoT cuts some bass too to a degree. The CC has a lot of output and is quite ballsy, not a lot of subtlety to be had whereas the CoT50 with it's superior dynamics is more versatile for stuff other than balls out rawk.

In a full on band context, I'm not sure you could discern a huge sonic difference between them.

I think this is pretty much where they differ the most - at max settings, the CC gets very nasal and focused - the CoT50 gets much looser and goes into light fuzz territory...

The CC should also be kicking your amp in the pants a bit harder, no?

Yea! But the question may be, do all smartass people post the same? :jo

( to be safe ) Are you being serious?? I know there is at least some difference in the circuits... Im just fishing for information on sound differences from people who might know, and who would know if possible layout designs in these pedals are similar. Just a friendly fact finding mission.

    :crazy

iirc the COT is electra-based, not rangemaster-based.

No, it is a tube screamer. I saw the schematic. Everything is a tube screamer.

It has a op-amp? If so, is it a mystery chip?
