What amp would I be describing?

If you were building a pedal based rig, but wanted a tube amp that has beautiful Fendery BF cleans, and huge amounts of headroom, what would you buy? A working effects loop would be a nice plus.

A dual 6550/KT88 1968 or 1969 Sunn head. Amazing headroom and amazing tone and when you pound them with a pedal through a stack, the sky will fall ;) No luxuries like a loop but damn they are amazing sounding amps and the headroom is insane because of the circuit design with the ultra linear trannies

Nothing I have heard comes close to Leonc's Ampeg VT-40 with pedals and it has a huge juicey clean tone with "huge" headroom. With a decent pedal board you could do anything with that amp.

The Twin is not a big friend to some pedals, but a big +1 on the double power Carr Slant 6V!

Fender Dual Professional. I love the trem and reverb and the FAT switch as well. Big, loud and clean, but damn heavy.

You might be surprized what a Roland Cube 60 will do with an external cab attached, in the JC mode. The C60 may not blow away a high end tube amp but the cleans are very respectable to my ears. And a bit of that bouncy tube feel is in there too. And, it won't break the bank OR your back ;).

    Good luck!

Bruno Cowtipper 90. I imagine it to be a bigger brother to my CT22, if it is exactly that it would have the biggest, cleanest, headroomiest, fattest clean sound ever. Plus killer two knob reverb and optional effects loop.

Cowtipper is great. Personally I find it a bit to smooth and refined for my style.
Dual Showman - boy, talk about gobs of clean headroom.
Ampeg VT-40 - Cleans may be even better than the Dual Showman the overdrive sound is excellent and boy does it love pedals!!

Hardly anyone ever mentions the Carr Imperial. I thought the one I played was really top notch for cleans. Just fantastic.

I would have to add a Reeves Custom 50 to this list. My #1 pedal amp, lots of headroom and huge clean tone.

From experience I have to say Voodoo Amps Baka. It's not on their website yet I owned one and it has to be one of the cleanest amp there is. I mean even at 9 on the vol it's clean with mild break up.....Very Rich and full sounding amp.....

I don't think Carr offers the Imperial anymore. Maybe Steve accepts special orders on request? I hear the Imperial is very Twin-like.
