...is playing out again and sounding tight:
It's not just about chops for those guys. They play for the song.
I saw them live with their last drummer Charlie Zeleny. They were really something else. But after a full set from them and a full set from Dysrhythmia I was ready for a day of very quiet music. A bit overwhelming and they never let up. What's more is they were really nice guys when I met them at the end of their set.
After watching this: what better way to announce a major personnel change by playing a dense 15 minute piece full of complexities. WW seems to be the right drummer for them.
I can certainly understand that, LOL.
...Arctopus are some talented cats, but what I really love is Colin Marston's (the Warr Guitar guy here) metal band Krallice. Their last record is one of my very favorite LPs now, wonderfully complex yet restrained and tuneful music.
Yeah, Krallice is great, I still just have the demo that was up for download, I need to get the record. I like a lot of what Mick Barr does.
Much better fidelity clip:
Yeah, there we go. Seems like Weasel Walter is settling in nicely.
Hmm, I couldn't hear any melody on either clip. To each their own, but this is very difficult to listen to for any more than a couple minutes.
Makes me long for some Henry Kaiser.
I'm just impressed that he can get any sound of that 12 string guitar/bass/harp thing..
That was awesome! Love it!
Preorder for the new release:
I don't get it, lol.
To me, there is nothing impressive or musical there.
The comedic value is good though...
It's kinda like a bunch of art enthusiasts looking at a picture of a black dot and oohing and aahing over how profound it is, lol.
Yeah, that happens a lot.
I, for one, am glad that I've had reason to mention Krallice twice today on TGP. I like this place a little better now.
New Arctopus, alright, but I'm still waiting on that new Gorguts that was supposed to be out LAST year!!!?!?!
You can't rush these things.
Yeah, I guess it's only been 11 years since 'From Wisdom to Hate' came out. No rush.
I remember when Weasel joined them, saying that they were thinking it would take 2 or more years of practice to get a records worth of material playable(keep in mind that they all have other projects).
