The new Jim Kelley Line Amp 001. Simple layout like all Jims amps yet a rabbit hole of tonal possibilities. Hi/Low inputs, Gain with Pull boost, Treble Pull bright, Bass Pull midboost, Main Gain Pull edge, rear boost via footswitch and a stellar effects loop. Baxandall eq like all Jims amps.

I'll let the iPhone clips I did (per Jims request)speak for themselves. The amp is obviously capable of a lot more than these clips this is just how I use it, more may be added in future. I am very, very pleased with this amp. It's seriously on another level.

    New clips added Today 2/8/18

To all the REAL blues rock players out there. I apologize. I am not a blues rock player and don't pretend to be. Listen to the AMP and not my attempt at medium gain bluesrock in the last clip.

Also, the last 2 clips are completely dry. Nothing in the loop. It's the guitar, amp and iPhone. That's it.

Oh yeah. No attenuators required. Something important to note about the clips. Both overdrive clips were done with the main gain or master as it were at 3. You can actually hear the acoustic attack of the strings in the first clip. Whys it important is while the amp sounds like its balls out loud in dynamics and harmonics. It's really not much louder than TV watching or home stereo listening. This could definitely be a home recording amp or an equally robust touring amp. Here's the link to Jims site for the real low down and details. You can also see Line Amp 002 on Jims Facebook page ready to find a new home.

Good to hear an amp where the designer knows what he is doing.

Was the delay in the loop or in front?

...and if my limited experience on JKs is any guide, that's only a part of its repertoire.

I certainly wouldn't sound like that on it anyhow, for which, I'm sure, voodoosound is quite thankful.

So what's the difference between a Line amp and the single channel reverb amps (other than the reverb)?

True, I agree, lots of different tones can be coaxed out of a JK.

If it’s the stock JK cab, I think it’s front ported with an EVM12L

Ill try and answer all the questions in the thread up to this point.

My style and playing and even gear used are a bit unorthodox as Im for all intents and purposes an Flamenco/Classical. It is also important to remember these were Iphone clips recorded in my living room (not our studio). Exactly as the proto clips were done. They were done that way intentionally. Basically what I get in my living room you can get in yours.

There are a multitude of great clips of the reissue amp out there. I only posted clips of what this amp does "extra" over the reissue. There will no doubt be more clips but these will help Jim and you guys to get the ball rolling on the sale of more amps.

Gear used. Kelley head, Bogner 2x12OS with v30s, Custom Charvel made to my spec with P90s. PCM60 in the loop. Iphone 6 I wil post a photo of this rig used later today

Whats different about the Line as opposed to the reissue or other amps? No attenuator required for gain tones at low volumes, even smoother overdrive if so desired (the smoothest of any amp Ive ever heard), an exceptional effects loop. All the available tones of the Reissue in addition to the Gain tones I posted in the clips. The amp is capable of even more gain and more cello like sustain. That was only on 7 on the gain. Im not joking or exaggerating when I say the amp is a rabbit hole of tone. 4 knobs have never done so much.

Time based effects should never be in the front end of an amp as a rule. The only exception I can think of would be if you want to pretend to be the Edge or have a washed out tone.

Thanks for posting these. Although I don't think Jim will need help selling more, as I know he has a list of people eager to get their hands on one. It's cool to hear tones exactly like my 1980 Kelley head gets, and then hear something different in there as well. Great descriptions, Rob. Thanks again!
