Well I picked this up about a month back. I was back in the States on vacation and visiting family. Came upon a craigslist ad for a Reinhardt SHG, I was actually looking for an 18 watter to bring back with me to Australia. Stumbled on the SHG for a killer price in Cali and just couldnt pass it up. Just a super super amp, so many options on this amp its amazing what Bob did with it. Has a sweet FX loop that you can switch in or out of the circuit, added boost for more gain, ability to use any octal power tubes, etc. Just a well thought out amp from day one. Best part is the size, very compact and just slightly bigger than a 18 watt head. Sits perfect on my 1x12 cab. Wish Bob was still around so I could talk with him about the amp, maybe get a schematic and such. Such a great amp!

I have gone digital for almost 1.5 years now with my 11Rack and really wanted a Marshall style amp the last few months since I love them so much. I really like the 11rack as well and wont sell that as its gives me a ton of cool sounds but I really needed that kick in the chest feel from an amp like this. Again didnt really need a 50 watt head for home but the master works great on these and also have a sweet attenuator that I pair with the master.

Also would like to mention that the seller was the nicest most sincere seller I have ever ran into. Just a total class act all the way, guys name was Alex and lived in the LA area. Totally reinforces my Aussie wife's thinking that Americans are some of the nicest ppl she has ever come across!:aok

Anyways here is a pic and sorry for the long post, just very very HAPPY!

I've been wanting one of these for while now! I played on at "The Amp House" (awesome owner btw) And loved it. I have absolutely ZERO use for anything over 15 watts, but I'm still gassing. Also, Bob is on here, his name is "goneracin" As he has returned to the drag racing scene. You might could message him. Super nice guy. Can you run 6v6s in there as well? I assume you could if you use JJ's, but I wonder about regular 6v6's.
Anyways, congrats on the new amp......

Welcome to the club. The purple is a beaut!. Here mine. Mine has power scaling so there's an additional knob.

Thanks guys I appreciate the comments.

Crewcutsamson- I think I could use 6v6's but to be honest I havent tried yet, Im going to throw some NOS 6CA7's in soon and have some SED EL34's in the amp now.

Mockoman- The seller had located a box and some bubble wrap for me when I picked it up. I met him at his work place and just boxed it up. I cut open a small sleeve at the top where the amp handle is so I could carry easily. I just checked it in with my normal luggage. Piece of cake to be honest!

Sunburst-Thats a sweet rig man! Love the look in Red. How do you like the Power scale option? Im really loving the master on this amp.

Okay I want that red one. LOL

Dumbell78 I believe you can bias up 6v6's just run a 2:1 ohms mismatch.
IE 8ohm on the head into a 16 ohm cab.

Congrats, Bob's one of my favorite builders, and one of my favorite people! Wish he was still building.

was it fairly loud? not like "keep up with full band and stay clean" loud, but loud enough to be heard in a full band? 'm toying with buying one and making it a combo.
How much gain does the mini-me have compared to the SHG?

OP, sorry for hijacking your thread......carry on :)

The power scaling seems to work great. Keep in mind that this is my only Rienhardt and I don't have any experience with the non power scaling model. Having said that I believe it works quit well. Better than a master. I wrote Bob back when I first got it and was supposed to send some pictures. My camera broke and I never got back to him. At time he thought that this might have been the SHG prototype.

I love the cab! Serious bottom and its small and light. These things really do the hard rock thing incredibly well.

Incredible amps and I would like to see Bob building again also.

Hi Mate, Would you believe I missed this amp so much I was searching for it today and ran into the one I sold you in 2008 (My god it's been 11 years already). I remember that day where we demo'd the amp in my building's pump/main electrical room in Beverly Hills 9665 Wilshire (bet you weren't expecting that). I had no idea how rare and scarce these amps would become. I recall I gave it to you for a REAL good price too. I have a plethora of great amps in my arsenal but the SHG was special for sure. I'm glad you're enjoying it and if you ever decide to let it go I will surely by it back. Thanks for the compliments on my edicate regarding the sale and Americans in General. I've been around the world to many countries and found most souls to be genuinely good. I've met many really cool and honest people on Craigslist throughout the years. Thanks for posting this and best of luck to you mate!

Sincerely, Alex

Wow Alex, I cant believe you tracked down this old post lol. Man I'm glad you made it to TGP, its a great community and you should stick around. I remember that day fondly, I still chuckle we were able to demo the amp in the middle of the work day in that pump room hahahaha. That was great. I remember telling my wife, "ok you go window shopping while I check out this amp". She went roaming Beverly Hills while we were talking amps lol. I hope you are doing well my friend! I ended up selling the amp about 2 years ago because I wanted a two channel clean/crunch combo, sold it to a local guy here in Sydney. Dumb move because it was a GREAT amp!

What are you playing now? I recently picked up the Suhr PT100 myself. Maybe PM if you feel more comfortable.

OMG you sold it :-( I wish I would have known. Hopefully you made some good coin on it I would imagine. Surely it's more of a want than a need for me. Best to let someone else experience the amp anyways. Live I mostly use my mid 80's JCM 800 as I play in a UFO tribute. Love that amp btw! I also have a Bogner Shiva 20th Ann., A Bogner Metropolis, A Soldano Hot Rod 50, A Trainwreck clone (I built) and bunch of different size cabinets. I also have a Quilter 101 mini I take to gigs for backup. LastlyI have an amp that I converted from a vintage Hammond organ that uses 2-6V6's in the power section which sound great btw so I guess i'm a bit spoiled in the amp department. Great to hear from you again mate. Maybe we could meet for lunch if you ever make it down to LA in the future?

Best, Alex

Yeah man, GAS is always around...should have held on to it. I say you are doing just fine in the amp department yourself:) The SHG does kill for UFO type playing!
I will surely get in touch with you when we hit LA next, should be there next year sometime. We're doing the Disneyland thing with the kids and I'll make time for you and I to re-connect.

Two seller's regrets over the same serial # amp on the same thread is an awesome lesson to never sell an amp. EVER!
