Hello all this is my first post here. I have just recently bought an Egnater Renegade 65watt head and need a nice 2x12 cab to run it through. I need something versitale and good sounding. I did some research and I like the avatars and Port City 2x12. Any suggestions or experience with these cabs?

Welcome to the forum!

I've heard good things from Port City. Their ported cabs are tuned, giving the guitar an almost "already EQ'd" type feel, from what I hear.

AVatars are good bang for the buck, but you'll hear polarized reviews on them here.

The Egnater Tourmaster 212 cabs are very good for the money, depsite being made in china.

The Egnater USA made cabs are great too.

SO many nice cabs out there.

A 2x12" is my favorite cabinet size. It's big and loud enough for almost any gig, but still able to fit into the back seat of a truck with a head, guitar gig bag, and pedalboard if it's raining outside. A real "workingman's" cabinet.

Do a search on here. There are plenty of posts regarding 2x12 cabs. I have an Avatar cab. Decent cab for the money. You should be able to find a good deal on a 'used' one. I love my Stone Age 2x12C with Scums, but now you're talking more $$$.

Mesa Boogie 2x12 Over/Under Steel Grill Cab. Open Top/ Closed back Bottom-Ported. Sounds killer w/ any Head....IMHO.

I have the regular sized Port City 2x12. Nice, but for what I paid I wished I'd gotten something else.

I've had a few of the Avatars. They are OK for the money, but I probably wouldn't buy another one unless it was very cheap.

I like the Mesa Rectos but my favorite is the deep sealed Soldano 2x12. Why on earth did I ever sell that one...best cab I've owned and I played a bunch of different heads through it for 9 or 10 years.

I own an Avatar 2x12 Contemporary w/ V30's. It's a great cab. Hands down, if you're a gigger or player - it's a good cab at a good price.

Add in the color/speaker/ohm/wiring options and you've got a cab built just for you.

I think a lot of people don't like them b/c they order what they THINK they want in a cab, after only playing cabs built for the masses - only to find out it isn't necessarily exactly what they thought it would be.

Ya I am going to have some money to spend whan I sell my marshall so I wanna get one that can be open or closed back and last a long time and sound stellar. Avatar is good bang for the buck, but is it something I will keep for a long time?

I have an oversized Germino that is freaking awesome! Only thing is I took off the Greenback celestions it came with and put in Scumbacks in its place and presto! Great projection, balanced sound, everything you want from a cabinet....
