Just watched St. Elmo's Fire. David Foster is a genius... loved hearing the Simmons drum machines, compressed electric guitars and synth layered sounds. Took me way back.

How about you? What movie sound track brought back those musical memories?

    That music makes me cringe.

Trainspotting, when the junkie drying out has a fever dream involving the song "Temptation" by New Order. Perfect spot for it.

Definitely a good one for early-'80s nostalgia.

Funny note-the movie Hot Rod, which came out a few years back, features almost the entire Europe-Final Countdown album as the soundtrack throughout the movie...haha.

Does the movie have to be from the '80s? If not, my vote is for Grosse Point Blank.

For a recent movie, Adventureland had so much 80's nostalgia that the movie might not be as good without those songs.
For 80's movies, Pretty in Pink and Some Kind of Wonderful.

Tron Legacy-when Sam turns the breaker on in Flynn's and "Separate Ways" fires up. I got a big smile on my face hearing that pump through the theater sound system.

another vote for "Grosse Point Blank". While not technically an 80s movie, it has all the music in it.

    Repo Man.

Theme song by Iggy Pop. Circle Jerks play a song live. Black Flag played during film. Fishbone appear in an acting role.

There was more to the 80s than John Hughes dreck (yes a couple of his flicks were fairly era defining. Others were pure shlock from plot to soundtrack)

Moving in Stereo still conjures up images every time I hear it. Needless to say, I LOVE that song!

"Home Sweet Home" in Hot Tub Time Machine, Rob Cordry is hilarious here as Vince Neil.
