    Hey gear fiends

whats some good delay pedals for being a noisy a**hole on?

you know what i mean, for getting on the floor and spinning dials making all kinds of crazy sounds.

Boss dd7 kinda does it on the modulate setting but it sounds a bit digital, maybe analog delays are better for this psych noise stuff? i want dials to spin like a whick-a-whick-a-deejay :phones

cheers guys i'm looking for delays to pull tricks on, the nastier, uglier and more acid-noise rock the better :Devil

Maxon AD-999. You can get all the crazy helicopter sounds you want out of that. Plus it's a great analog delay.

The Belle Epoch is made for knob turning as well. It does all the crazy stuff a good echoplex will.

It's really more about your creativity. I had a few pedals, which has nice delf-oscillation tones, but in so different ways.
Way Huge Aqua puss - it has big knobs and small delay range, so you have a lot of nuances.
Catalinbread montavillian - nice near cloudy oscillation, especially with tone knob.
Catalinbread Echorec - nice with multi-tap delay settings. A lot more interesting, then belle epoch.
Boss RE-20 - great playing with mode switch.
Strymon El Capistan - Nice to switch into looper and back to delay. Crazy stuff.

The DMMTT series has the most knobs available from the front panel including a tone knob, and has an effects loop that you could put a LPF on the delays for some of that "wah" like functionality. The Moog has almost as many controls.

That said, the H9 with the control app open on an iPad is probably the most WYSIWYG wide control delays out there.

Red Panda Particle is really good for crazy things and almost everything, except maybe by teh bluez slapback thing, but you don't buy a $100+ delay pedal for playing ****** slapback, do you?

Nothing "really out there" is mentioned yet (except the RedPanda).

Moog MF104m (sync your tweaking with a midi clock so it sounds like you know what you're doing).

Koma Electronics BD101, at least twice the knobs of any delay mentioned so far.

Jomox T-Resonator, digital delay filter feedback, can literally blow your eardrums out, you want a limiter with this. Does things no pedal does...all in stereo.

All three boxes are big, but have more features and knobs than any guitar pedal and excel at noise. Self oscillating feedback is kid's play for all 3.

the line6 dl4 looper can be really cool for this. It's easy to get short noisy loops stacked, time shift reverse them, and retrigger like a sample. Put a moog Murf or ring mod after the loop and you have serious tweak ability.

pricey... but it doesn't get much crazier than the Moog MF104M. The previous version is findable much more reasonable these days since the superdealy was released.

Kind of a different application but you can get the idea on youtube here.

    Oldies but goodies.

Both have repeat/hold, 8000 is 8 sec, has sample/trigger and external FS jack. 20/20 is 2 sec mod delay/chorus/flange or any weird increment in between. You can sample and do time/pitch speed up/slow down. Both very warm old LoFi digital delays.

PDS 8000 going for about $400 last I checked.

DE7 and DL8 (tape mode) are two of my favorites.

EHX Stereo Memory Man with Hazari.

    Looping
    Reverse
    Multi-tap
    Modualtion
    Reverb

Moving the delay knob while something is playing causes odd glitches.

    Highly recommended.
