So whats the best grill cloth for a 4x12 cabinet.

    I have a 1987X Marshall Clone and a 4x12 1960B marshall cabinet.

I heard marshall made 3 version of grill cloth thru their years.

    Fully Transparent (Black Cloth)
    Medium Transparent (Checker Cloth)
Non Transparent (Salt N Pepper Cloth)

Also are the Salt n Pepper and Basketweave cloth the same (the only differece is color)

So what is the best and where should i buy those in europe.

    Thanks!!!!:BEER:banana;) ;)

SNP & BW are the same cloth, just different names, that's all. It is a heavier weave, and will dampen all freq to a degree, but most noticably the highs.

Best is very subjective, if preferring the ultimate vintage appearance, snp is thee way to go.

What about some type of metal grill so when someone shoves the mike stand in the truck it doesn't go through a speaker.

Be careful with the Salt & Pepper cloth. There was a recent run of it that was bad. I know this because I got some and was told this by the cab maker. Apparently the QC went out the window with this batch and it's splotchy with runs and things like that. Supposedly there's only one company that makes it and it was shipped to all who sell it. Since there isn't a high demand for it, they don't make it all that often so the odds are if you order some, it'll be bad.

Don't have that problem if it is genuine "Original Marshall".....that stuff is as consistent as it gets...at least that's been my experience. Still made in the UK...
There MAY, I stress, may, be aftermarket manufacturers of snp....
