    Hey all,

I am looking for a good guitar tech in philly. I have a heritage 535 that I need to get set up for jazz. The nut will need to be cut wider (for thicker gauge strings) and the guitar will need a general good setup. Any recommendations? Also, if you have a phone number or something else of the sort, please PM me!

    Thanks in advance!

    -Ian

Dave Dougherty of Doughtery Guitar Repair is actually just outside of Philly. Great Tech. Certainly one of the best set up guys out there, anywhere.

West Chester Music as well as several other stores are drop off points for Dave. I believe he still sees clients on an individual basis as well. PM me or give me a call at the store and I'll be glad to put you in touch with him.

Here's the store that Audric Jankauskas works out of . I take him my R9 about every 2 years and I'm always amazed at his attention to detail. He has a few different price points based on the type of work you want done.

I've also had a good experience with Jack Romano out of Conshohocken as well.

is Ron Ruggerio still doing fret jobs/tech work in the Philly area?

he used to be the man back in the mid 80s

Dave is a great guy - well thought of here.

Yes, if you don't mind waiting 6 weeks for your phone call to be returned he is. ;) Still, better than "Superior" in Manayunk who can't even be arsed to return your call.

Dave D. seems really nice. I may try him again. In the meantime I've been making a 90 minute drive to Baltimore to Phil Jacoby for bigger stuff. Best I've found.

Steve Duritt in Burlington NJ has done all kinds of work (including refrets) on all of my pieces, both current production and vintage.

    Excellent work and very affordable.

He can be reached at sduritt@comcast.net.

Ron rebuilt my 1968 D-18 and did a great job. Neck set was flawless as was the fret work.

Todd Stevens in Richlandtown (Quakertown). I trust this guy with all of my guitars and never have had anything go wrong when he does work for me.

Also unstuck my firebird truss rod , got a 91 NOS bird for 700 at a show and the rod was frozzen fixed it and that was 7 years ago and it perfect.Great guy who really cares for his craft and you deal directly with him not some guy in a store relaying you rissues. quick service too

Hey Dave, where exactly in Burlington is Steve Duritt? I've been looking for a good tech to give my Jr. a setup and this looks like the ticket.

High Street. He's a GREAT tech, and I would trust him with ANY guitar.

He has refretted and done extensive work on my vintage pieces, and his work is always top-rate, and always costs less than what it should.

Great bassist, too, and a truly wonderful human being. His email is sduritt@comcast.net.

Oh! High Street Music...I should have thought of that before. I'll be sure to take my guitar there. Thanks for the suggestion, Dave! :AOK
