Looking to get another high gain pedal to play with my Bassman AB165 ....had a Mi Audio Megalith that I sold when I needed money( great pedal ) and a Cmatmods MT-2 (not a bad pedal ) ..... before I look into buying a Megalith again, looking for other recommendations ...thanks in advance ..

Check out Wamplers high gain stuff. The Sovereign covers Pantera territory, but is versatile and highly tweakable. The Triple Wreck is just a monster, and the SLOstortion is aggressive too. You can find pretty good used prices for them all, some more available than others.

The three best high gain metal pedals out there, I've come across are.....

1. Amptweaker Tight Metal
2. MI Audio Megalith Delta
3. Toneczar Openhaus

All have amp-like responce, and incredible tweakability.
All brutal as hell.

I had the very same amp and i used a Wampler Plextortion with it.It really did the trick, even with the bright switch up which is notoriously difficult with dirt pedals. The Plextortion will completely devour the sound of that Bassman and turn it into something else.

The Bearfoot stuff was quite good too.I had the Dyna Red and the Model H for a few days on one of those tourbox rounds and they did a similar thing.

its good to see that the Tight Metal is at or near the top of most people's lists for one of the best high gain pedals on the market today. after spending a few years searching for the right high gain pedal, confirmation that I made the right decision is comforting.

Have a Humphrey modded MT on the way ...any opinions ? May also try a Bogner Red (again) ...wasn't crazy about the last one, but just figured out that the Bassman ( and my Bandmaster in normal mode, I was using the trem channel) ) are so much better with pedals with the bright switch engaged ..

My Keeley DS-1 sounds great ...

So many good metal pedals out there.. The megalith sounds wicked and I have heard many great reviews for it. I use a Wampler Triple wreck through a clean amp and it sounds killer.. Although it is not the tightest pedal out there but gets a nice chunky high gain sound.. Its like a Triple rectifier and 5150 mixed together.

I've played dozen of ultra high gain pedals with Marshall amps, still ISP Theta pedal is my fav choice an dit is much more than just high gain preamp in the box. Organic quality of sound in all situations.
