Hey all I'm looking to hear about different companies doing their take on the Jazzmaster
I know Elliot is doing some pretty awesome things with their Tonemaster
who else is doing something awesome?

If I had the dough, I'd order a Danocaster in a heartbeat.

An Elliot tonemaster is really nothing like a jazzmaster.

AVRI is the way to go if you want the best clone and has the added benefit that it isn't a clone at all.

Other than that, Danocaster and Ron Kirn would be my recommendations.

If you just want a vaguely jaxzmastery / offset guitar, extend that to Kauer, Rhoney, Diemel.

I have very close firsthand experience with a super Fender CS Jazzmaster and a Danocaster. Incredibly close, the Dano feels a bit more "played in." I need look no further.

Depends on what you want, clone or "take on Jazzmaster"

My new Arcturus model can get you in the ball park

But then my Daylighter series is a bit more removed

So there's a pretty wide range if you want there to be.

I agree - if you want a jazzmaster the AVRI is it.

Those of Doug's guitars with the correct kind of vibrato above are more a jazzmaster (even if they have different pickups or slightly shorter scale) than something jazzmaster-shaped with a different bridge, IMO.

Perhaps... but some think that a Mastery or Stay-Trem bridge on a JM (Fender or Danocaster, for ex.) makes it a better playing/sounding guitar.

True, when I said bridge I meant the whole shebang, geometrically speaking. The actual bridge itself can be a mastery or SrayTrem or whatever (though the stock bridges really aren't bad if you set it up right & don't use light strings).

    :huh

Which 'real' Jazzmasters are you talking about?

If you get any of the (great) builders on here to build you a Jazzmaster clone is it's likely going to cost you just as much as getting a used Fender Jazzmaster and modding it.

Wait, what? Regardless of the absurdity of this statement; If you dont like the sound of a jazzmaster, why on earth would you want a clone?
