What are the best "Marshall in a box" pedals for use with clean platform style amps? I'm particullarly interested in MIB pedals that will achieve a brown sound high gain drive. What pedals out there will do that?

There are a ton of threads on this but some that come to mind:

Mad Professor 1 (amazing), MI Audio Crunch, Sansamp, and don't discount a good ol' Rat! Anything Plexi is also a good starting point.

Wampler Pinnacle or Euphoria. Cmat mods Brownie, Suhr Riot, Bogner Blue & Red- these all do the hot- rodded Marshall well.

The new Exotic SL drive does a great SuperBass or Plexi sound.

MI Audio Crunch Box, Xotic SL Drive, Lumpys Tone Shop Liquid Lead were all great.

Rockett Animal...............not the "hot-rodded" Marshall sound, but GREAT classic Marshall grind.

You're better off doing a search in the pedals forum, but one that's big right now is the Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret III.

I've got a Wamper Plexi Drive. It shines more as a low to mid gain Plexi sound IMO. Strat in to a Vibrolux is pretty convincing. For a pedal :)

I'm about to get a free J Rockett Animal pedal this week. Supposedly, it's designed to recreate the 1968 plexi sound. I will give a review once I get it.

Not fancy enough for some but the old gray metal Marshall Guv'nor makes most amps sound awfully Marshally. Can be had on ebay for $30-35.

I've read a lot of good things about this one, and it is inexpensive to boot:

No one hit on it, but the best I've heard is the Tonebone Plexitube. The Wampler's - Pinnaclle/TripleWreck would be "hot-rodded" Marshalls. Plexitube sounds like a Plexi/JM45 Marshall with moderate gain.

Menatone makes several. king of the Britons for a great Plexi and up (gain-wise) pedal. Workingman's Blue for JTM, the Foxy Brown for an 18 watt tone. The new Thundering Revival gets a great Kossoff Free tone.

I likes the wampler pinnacle as well.

Vemuram Karen. Just got a great deal on one and I'm definitely still in the honeymoon period, but DAMN this is an incredible sounding box.
