So I had a tube fail on me and need a new pair of EL34s.
I was partial to Winged Cs, =C=s, in my Bogners.
The one that failed was an EHX.

I don't want JJs in this amp.

Any idea what's the best, or most reliable, EL34 production tube out there?

I tried one the other day, it was outstanding. Will be my next amp.

I was told by a very high end amp builder that Winged C's were the best new production. I've also heard from others, however, that they are not as reliable as they would hope for. I have a quad of Winged C's in my EL34 amp and they sound great and I've had zero issues thus far.

Most reliable with great tone is the Winged C/SED IMO. My personal favorite for tone is the Electro Harmonix. I haven't personally had any problems with the sets I've used but, some have reported problems.

I liked =C= until the price went up. Then I tried Tung Sol EL34B tubes and I like them more. No problems with either.

tung sol has always served me well. but so have JJ's. I think it's really hit or miss in this tube world we live in.
