the earcandy buzzbomb really sounds huge, and it's still a bargain considering it's all custom made. also, i was recently blown away by how great the budda 2x12 sounds. might be worth a look as well.

Which 12's are you using in a closed back cab? I don't have much experience with closed backs. I've always been a open back Fender guy.

The TopHat 2x12's that were made in CA - with the speakers loaded on the diagonal were absolutely HUGE sounding. Built like tanks. I think they were made from 11 ply void-free baltic birch. They sounded like 4x12 cabs.

I've been through a pletora of 2x12 cabs...

    THD
    Z Best
    TopHat
    Fender (Tonemaster)
    Jenkins

Best I've tried (and my favorite) is my Germino 2x12. It has that big low end thump of a good 4x12 without sounding tubby and has an open quality to it that I didn't find in the other cabs. I also liked the Z Best a lot...but when I a/b'd the two cabs with my amps I just prefered the Germino. Surprisingly, even though the Germino is a bigger box it is lighter and easier to lug around than the Z Best cab!

IMO...the Germino 2x12 is the most 4x12-like sounding 2x12 I've played followed closely by the Z Best.

Definitely sounds big and weighs alot less, so easier on your back. I got mine open backed to cut down on beaming and to let the drummer hear what was going on...best decision I ever made...er, well, was a really good decision.

For the $ I'd say a Mojotone Bluesbreaker ext cab. I have one with Blues and it sounds huge.

My Germino cab is the older (larger) cab. I have not tried the newer style (smaller) cabs.

The over sized Bogner was the best closed back 2x12 I've owned or tried until I picked up a Germino. The older version, without a valance. It Kills!

The Germino cab I have has a handle on top only. Can't say about the new Germino cabs. I'm sure they are well made but they are smaller and have a valance like the Bogner.

I love my Diezel 2X12. Killer low end, yet great clarity with my Tremoverb.
