I’m gassing for some P90 growl lately. Trying to cop some blues stuff that is just out of reach to my HH LPs and SSS Strat. Thinking semi-hollow. The Wildcats look cool but seem to have some issues. Not opposed to non-Epi’s but used Epi is my budget.

I’m going to get out there and play as many as possible but would love to hear your thoughts.

    Love my ES-339 P90 Pro.
Still kicking myself for not picking up the ‘56 P90 Pro (goldtop) when I had the chance.

I’ve owned two Epi ‘56 Les Pauls and a Casino and they were all great guitars. If I were going to buy a new P90 Epiphone now, I would go for the ES-339 P90 Pro. Comfortable body shape, sounds great, looks great. There are even people who swear by the cheap LP Special P90. One great thing about Epiphones is that any good size guitar store usually will have a few P90 models you can try. Try them all and see which one feels right to you.

The ES-339 P90 Pro is a great little guitar. You can easily find them for $300ish on the used market.

I like Epi. I said in the OP, doesn’t have to be Epi but they have a couple solid models and my budget <$400.

I agree but I have a couple HH LPs already. I’ve always wanted a semi and lately I’ve been jonesin’ for some P90 flavor. I want something different.

Edit: damn! That ‘55 though! :drool

I like the gold tops with the P90s. There is also this guitar which is similar to an Epiphone but I prefer the pickups a little more: https://reverb.com/item/6529718-vintage-reissued-v100gt-gold-top

I've never had the chance to play one, but I've always dug the look of the Riviera P93:

This is my (heavily modded) Epi Riviera P93. Replaced the bigsby with a frequensator, Fralin pickups, new electronics, and bone nut.

You could go buying a dot, casino, es-type etc. But you really need to like that type of sound.I do, but rarely use my Casino as i would first consider the 57 reissue lp junior, special or goldtop for the job, unless it's Beatles or rockabilly.Ie, i find specific uses for hollow bodies but would trust an lp type w P90s in general..
That 57 reissue junior Epi is the pick of the lot..
