I want a sort of Phase 90ish phaser tone but with a depth control. Any suggestions? Anyone like the Psilosybe? Retro-sonic Phaser?

Retro-Sonic Phaser is supposed to be a (script) Phase 90 clone and it has a depth knob.

    Sounds pretty nice IMO.

I added the 'feedback' control (resonance) and put it in a hammond box. Sold my Boss PH-1R after that....

Another +1 for BYOC. Very classic phase 90 sounds and with that depth knob, it can be made to sound very subtle. Maybe my favorite phaser at the moment.

The Subdecay Quazar is sure a nice unit. I much prefer its tone to the Homebrew Psilocybe.

The depth makes this unit very versatile. This is also a quiet unit. No ticking noise at all.

Oh, I just realized they discontinued the two knob phaser in favor of the Royal. I'd imagine the Royal is even better since it's based on the same phaser with mods added in. Although I think discontinuing the simpler version was a bad idea since some of us want the simplicity of a simple phase 90 with the added knob for depth. In that case, I'd say maybe look for either a used one, go for the Royal, or move on to another brand.

Of the boutiques, I'd probably lean towards the Retrosonice since I prefer phase 90 sounds at the moment... I believe the HBE Psilocybe is a Small Stone variant (iirc), which I'd be interested to try since the one thing I've disliked about my small stone is that it's just too much sometimes.

it's so painful for me to pay more than $100 for a phaser.... but I know I won't be happy with a phase 90 block in the long run!!
