    Hi,

I am looking to try a few different tubes in my amps. Mostly 12AX7 and EL84 tubes. Where is the best place to buy these? Ebay, here, locally? Just wondering the best spot to purchase these. Thanks!

As mentioned above, see the tube dealer sticky. There are a lot of good choices.

With that said, I've bought lots of good tubes from KCA, and Mike often gives generous amounts of tube related advise to those of us on the forum.

I've also done ok with Doug's tubes, and for JJ's I like Bob at Eurotubes. I also buy tubes from the guy that built my amps.
I tend to not buy from big box music stores or their websites, and for the most part I'd say stay away from ebay.

Keep in mind that a good part of what a good tube dealer does is lots of testing to pick the best stock, and they also burn the tubes in. They are hands on with their inventory, and can give you accurate advise. You won't get that at a big box store.

    Good luck!
Now for the N.O.S. Debate ;-)

    Hi,

Thanks so much for the tips. I'll do my research based on some of these "best of" sellers you recommended and order a few. Looking forward to trying a few different brands to see if that will help in tweaking my tone a bit. Thank you!

I am in the Chicago area. Not sure if I should poke around the local music stores a bunch or buy them from one of these websites. Thanks.

Doug's Tubes have always been my go-to tube shop.

Billy Bob's local music store probably won't have much.

KCA,SRS and antique electronic supply. I have found better customer service with the bigger shops.
