    Hey,

I'm considering purchasing a 2006 '59 Historic Les Paul and was wondering if anyone knew of the best place to purchase one in terms of price and selection. I've checked out Mark's, but am more interested in a new guitar. Is there any place that really spends time playing and getting to know their stock and can translate that info over the phone to a customer? I live in NY and have checked out all the local stores. I was wondering more about places like music machine, wilcutt, wildwood, etc.

    Thanks

Try Saul at Centre City Music http://www.ccitymusic.com/

I haven't purchased anything from him but a few friends have and they were very happy with the price and service.

Both Centre City and Willcutt's have great prices.

Saul at Centre City has the best prices but isn't really a player so about all the real info you'll get to go by will be the weight and pictures. And be careful of the weight, because he's made the mistake with me of saying "8lb 9oz" when in fact it was 8.9lb (8lb 15.5oz). I'm sure he didn't mean to misrepresent the weight, as he's a honest guy to deal with. I just think he wasn't reading the scale correctly.

If you need a great hand's on review of the guitar call Eric at Willcutt's. He's picked a couple of great sounding guitars for me in the past.

Another person who's ears I trust to pick a good guitar is Bruce at Wildwood, but their prices aren't quite as good as the other two.

I dont think Makenmusic is a Gibson Dealer at the moment.
GuitarSale is in my little town (South Bend, IN), and they indeed DO have a boatload of Gibby's...Historic and otherwise.

Saul at Centre City is the best.
I live in san diego and have kicked myself in the ass for
NOT buying up his brazilians when he gave me the "inside"
tip. same thing with the rossington!
the les paul I did get from him was really well priced
and it weighed almost 8 lb even!
