I like kayak.com
Kayak, Expedia, Travelocity.
Use those to get ballpark prices, and then go to individual airlines sites to book.
IIRC, Southwest and JetBlue don't show up on the big search engines.
So going to the airline is cheaper?
I use the Kayak app on my phone. Have found the cheap flights, booked and paid all on my phone. Works very well. By the way, the prices change from minute to minute so refresh often.
Also, clear your history/cookies - the sites save your search data and jack the prices up if you search a lot for the same flight times.
Sometimes, it cuts out the middleman. With Southwest and JetBlue (and probably some others) going to their site is the only option.
FWIW if JetBlue is going there, that's my choice. They're pretty limited to major routes but you get your own DirecTV screen and headset. As far as economy goes they're the best I've used.
I like the dates function on Kayak. It shows a range of prices over a number of days and I use that to pick the day to fly.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't make a difference.
Booked a Jet Blue flight to Puerto Rico on Sat. Night thru Expedia for early March...
For some reason Expedia did not confirm the booking within the promised 24 hour period...
I had to call Expedia this morn, they in turn called Jet Blue for confirmation, which they did.
I then called Jet Blue to make sure it was really booked...
Jet Blue rep said in the future to call them direct, they also sent me my confirmation info via email right after I spoke with them.
Jet Blue had the best prices............BTW!
Just go directly to the carriers website best and easiest way. Once in awhile you get an bargin on one of the search sites, use Kayak.
Yeah, that too! I guess you can get Jet Blue from the travel sites... it's just that they never show up on my searches because I fly from a regional airport (Ontario, California) and they only fly out of the ones that would mean a trip to Los Angeles for me which is kind of a deal breaker. They used to fly out of ONT and flying to JFK to see my daughter was a $99 nonstop. I was really bummed when they quit flying from there.
The pub at TGP of course...oh wait, you said flights, not fights...Nevermind.
I compared prices...since I was booking a flight, rental car, and a one night stay at a hotel, I saved about 30 bucks booking thru Expedia than booking separately.
