    Today?
Best: Four Sticks. Kashmir is also a GREAT song, but if there's one tiny knock on it is that it drags on a little too much.
    Worst: All of My Love

    WORST: Walter's Walk

BEST: Impossible to choose. But Walter's Walk is just awful.

Zeppelin is a good example of a band with a catalog lacking middle ground. They have a lot of really great material, but the rest tends to be rather bad. Not a lot of take it or leave it.

Wow, I LIKE all the In Through The Out Door stuff- even Hot Dog!

    Best: Heartbreaker
Worst: don't really have one, maybe just go with Stairway, just sick of it ( but love it!)

I don’t get the dislike of Fool in the Rain. It’s odd, it’s not typical epic Zep, but it’s certainly not a bad song.

Wow three pages and no one mentions Song Remains the Same as best? That song must’ve really sounded different for those who first heard it after IV. Just so different than anything else that came before HOH.

I don't know what's best, there are so many great ones. I dislike All Of My Love the most.

It's your choice, but not mine. A masterpiece of songwriting that seemed to influence Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, for one. Both songs begin quietly and end after a very heavy rock crescendo.

I liked STH more after learning the whole thing on the three different guitars required to really play it. That changed it for me.

I was being sarcastic. It's their most popular song, and can be a bit polarizing to some people. I personally don't care for it, but recognize that it is a masterpiece.

i like how we're not all agreeing here (many of the "worst" examples have been ones i really like).

i think that we can't really count some of the stuff from physical graffiti and especially coda, those were both exercises in "emptying the vault" and included songs that were never more than demos not ready for prime time. even there, "boogie with stu" inspired me to learn the mandolin and "darlene" is 3/4 of one of their best songs.

as far as songs they "meant", a bunch of stuff on presence is hard to listen to, and i always hated "babe i'm gonna leave you", that was just an annoying and hokey attempt at '60s flower power music. "tangerine" and "thank you" also have that "leftover hippie" feel to me and i don't like them so much.

pretty much all the rest is their "best" song depending on how i feel that day.

    best: Achilles

worst: Tea for one ("we need one more tune...I have this odd looping riff, perhaps we'll just hamfist it on to a slow blues")

appropo, here's a list spin magazine did of all 87 zep songs ranked in order from worst to best. i don't agree with all of it but a great read.

my favorite line, about 14th-ranked "the ocean":

"Real talk for a minute: The fact that there are 13 Zeppelin songs we think are better than “The Ocean” is all you need to know in order to understand what a totemic band this was. There might not be more than two or three hard rock bands from the entire 1970s who wouldn’t gladly trade their biggest hit for this one..."

My favorites studio recording song of theirs is either 10 years gone or achilles last stand. I feel like achilles last stand perfectly encapsulated everything the band did well.

I dont know about worst song but I can't stand the Fool in the rain solo. Its like page just phoned it in to the max. The Blue Box makes it even worse. Page is my man but that solo sucks so hard hahaha. Man. That bridge sucks too.. What saves it from being their worst song? The drum beat is super groovy and the main riff of the song is awesome. Thats whats so amazing about zep. If two members are hamming it up then the other two are usually doing something so awesome that it makes you forget it about it.

10 Years Gone, Ramble On, Night Flight, Misty Mountain Hop... man so many classics.

Hot Dog is basically every crappy Irish Song I have ever heard.
