My boss insists that I start spending two weeks at a shot when he sends me to Europe so I've got a weekend to kill mid-February.

Where would I go in Germany or the Netherlands to lay my hands upon a Huber and a Ruokangas and, do I even dare ask, a Gustavsson?

I can actually go most anywhere except I'd just as soon stay away from Turin, what with all of the Oplympic stuff going on.

Any other brands I should be looking at?

If your going to be in Germany, why not just email Nik and go to his shop?

If that doesn't work, check his website for dealers in Europe-I think there are 3 of them in Germany, and there are a few in the Netherlands as well.

I'm sure any of them would be happy to show you around. 2 off the top of my head are Music Schmidt and Siggi Schwartz Music.

Siggi's shop is the one I'm aware of and it looks like he's got the stuff.

I'm just wanting some confirmation before me and my GPS and my rental car go careening down the autobahn in search of tone.

    Thanks.

That's odd...Nik is in the Netherlands fairly often-I thought he had some dealers there.

    Only one, Marcel?

....How big do you think The Netherlands is ....you drive from up north to the south border in 2 1/2 hours :D :D :D

The two listed above are that I know of, but maybe more. It's like you said, Greg -its maybe best to mail Nik and ask him.

When it comes to Ruokangas, these two German stores come to mind among others. They should have some stock as well :JAM

    ESCHWEGE
    Musicfactory Eschwege
    Niederhoner St. 58, 37269 Eschwege
    Tel. 49 5651 220 655

    JEVER
    Musikhaus Jever
    Frl.-Marien-Str.6, 26441 Jever
    Tel. 0494461/916070

The challenge is, I don't know if there is a store that carries both Nik's and Juha's guitars. You probably have to drive around.

Thanks for all the input. Once I get over there, I think I will phone a couple of these places to see what's in stock. I'll be just North of Brussels so it's easy to go in either direction.

If I had time during the week, I'd consider trying to visit the shop.

Greg, this really is your fault, what with those amazing Orca pics.

I would say contact Nik and make an appointment. I think he won´t say no if you tell him that you came all the way just to visit his shop.

Proguitar (in Germany) should be another great shop, I believe (haven´t been there yet). Unfortunately they offer mostly American brands, so what you get in the US anyways.

regarding the Hubers, is there any pricing information available on the Internet? I have no idea what they cost, what the different options will add to the price, etc

The only prices I've seen are from Musik Schmidt. they've got a Bolt On Dolphis for 2500 Euro and a couple of Dolphins and Orcas in the low to mid 4000 Euro range.

Don't know if they negotiate or are firm and I'm still wanting to play a couple before I figure out what I'd want and how much. If I stumbl across better info I will pass it on.

    Hi Jero,

Best is to contact Frans who is the owner of Juke Box and the shop that is nearest to your city. Frans is a great guy and will be glad to answer your questions any way he can.
You can phone him at this number: 0492-324038

Or e-mail Nik Huber Guitars at: info@nikhuber-guitars.com
It's best to mail after the 24th of january, as Nik will not be able to answer because of NAMM preparations right now.

    Hi Eero,

thanks for mentioning us! Yes, both Musicfactory Eschwege and ourselves - the Musikhaus Jever - have quite a nice stock of Ruokangas guitars (including special custom orders!) and the Mad Professor amp.
