I've been recommended the Keeley TS9 Plus Mod numerous times, but I'm also interested in the Fulltones, the MI Audios, and the Maxons. Does anyone have experience with most of these? What's the difference?

On a side note, I'm looking to trade a 1979 tan MXR Envelope Filter for anything like this.

A Maxon OD-9 is a TS-9 Tubescreamer with all of the cool mods already built into it, plus they made the original Tubescreamers. I think it's the best sounding TS pedal out there, and the price isn't too bad either for what you get.

    Cheers,

    CJ

Is it modded to TS808 specs? Or is it a TS9 with some upgrades like truebypass and whatnot?

    It's a TS-9 with all the upgrades.

    Cheers,

At risk of being declared silly: the TS808 is the best TS9 out there. At least the few that I've played have been great sounding for what they are. Lots of other stuff has more flexibility (FDII), better bypass and improved components, but for that chewy, vocal sound nothing does a better job. And you could do worse than paying $400 for a decent pedal (since people already pay way more than that for stuff that's still being built today).

i prefer it to the TS-808,ts9, TS-10, MJM Blues Devil, etc. smoother and clearer, better clarity and makes a good clean boost. lots of output and no coloration that i can tell.

    oh, 820, sorry.

    TS10? Interesting.

I'll probably just take whatever I'm offered as long as it's decent.

I have a keeley 808.. it's fantastic as far as ts tone.. very smooth and boxy in a good way.. awesome pedal but pricey at around $250.. if I could only have 1 OD it would be the keeley blues driver.. the ts808/bd combo is awesome though...

Check out the T-Rex Alberta... the pedal rocks!!! I've played the Keeley and Analogman mod's, this pedal off the shelf sounds much, much cleaner, flexible, and full range... an awesome pedal no doubt.

I keep it up like a broken record. Try the Tube Slammer from CMATMODS (He's got soundclips for all three of his ODs give em a listen)

I have both the TS-808 RI from Ibanez and the Maxon OD-808 and with the same settings - In an A/B test, you couldn't tell them apart. They're both wonderful units....

Those clips are FANTASTIC! May have to try one of those pedals when he's set up to build again. Thanks for the link.

BJF LGW. I hated tubescreamers until I played this one.

I have the Analogman TS-9 with the "Brown Mod" as well as his Maxon OD-9 with the "Silver Mod". Both pedals sound stellar IMO. I can't imagine a better sounding Tubescreamer than the Analogman pedals! Highly recommended! :dude
