    Hi all,

I just posted this on the Fractal Forums, but thought I would do so here on TGP as well, in case there were any interested member. Apologies in advance if this is in the wrong area or contravenes forum rules in any way. Mods, please move or delete if you think it shouldn't be here.

In a nutshell, I need a couple of Axe-FX II users to assist me with testing an iPad app that I have written to manage the Axe-FX in a gig type situation.

I really designed this software to enable tweaking of broad parameters whilst 'in situ' at a gig. It is NOT a deep editor like Axe-FX, but hopefully it will be a useful tool in the field.

I have tested it with my Ultra, but would welcome anyone with a II to test it out as the SYSEX messages are slightly different on the II and I cannot test it without a real device.

    Some screenshots:

As you can see, I've designed it to load presets from the Axe-FX, and display all parameters in real time. Adjustments made to the controls are reflected on the unit in real time too. You can even tune you guitar using the on board Axe-FX tuner! LOL

You will need to have an iPad (of course! :) ) Gen1 or Gen2 is fine. An Axe-FX (II preferred but Ultra/Standard users welcome) and also you will need a MIDI connector for your iPad. The iPhone/iPad camera connector kit + USB MIDI cable, or the iRig MIDI dongle works great. Unfortunately, the Alesis IO Dock won't work as for some inexplicable reason, it doesn't support SYSEX messages.

All testing will be done via the testflightapp.com website. Shoot me a PM if you are interested in Beta testing, and I will send you an invite. You just need to register your iPad on the testflightapp website and install their app, then you can download and play with the beta software.

    Thanks!

    Devan

EDIT: Thank you everyone! Beta test applications now closed...thanks for your support and encouragement! ;)

That looks way cool. Can you turn the "knobs" just by touching and dragging?

Yes, absolutely... I tried to utilise the full benefits of the iPad touch interface where I could! :)

Just a quick update to let everyone know that the applications for beta testers is now closed. I've received a TON of emails and PM's from people who are keen and I would like to thank each and everyone of you for responding and for your support of my project! :aok

Time to sift through the list and pick out a range of candidates to post the Beta to this weekend.

    Thanks again! :)

I'd love that just for the tuner. Positioning my Ultra live so that I can see the tuner can be a hassle sometimes.

LOL! I do admit I investigated doing this on the Android platform, but unfortunately MIDI functionality on those devices isn't as cut and dried (cut-Android....geddit?? :D ) as CoreMIDI on the iOS devices is.

Plus, the different form factor means that screens and controls have to be rescaled and made more dynamic to cater for those...all in all, a bit too hard!

    That's looking very promising.

    Very cool.

I have no IPAD, but stuff like that makes me think I should.

I SOOOOOO wish Avid would do this for the 11R! The only thing I haven't liked about the 11R is having to carry around a laptop. I always have my iPad. You Axe-FX guys are gonna love this!

    Looks great!
What is the tool you used to create it? I'd like to try to do one for some midi capable pedals that I use...
