Interesting. I'd like to see it. He's a great drummer but definitely on the nutty side.

Just watched the preview - my favorite drummer. Wish he wasn't so hard to get along with.

I seriously saw him shoot up speed on stage in MSG before he played Toad.

Was there a label on the syringe in big letters saying speed? Or did you see him inject himself with something and decided to be an asshole and come on a board and announce that it was speed? It couldn't have been cortisone for his joints? Or any other number of things?

If you've read his autobiography then the movie will make for an interesting watch... He seems to dislike almost everyone except Clapton...

    Thanks for posting.

Seems like I've seen some of these interview scenes from the docu. before, or maybe he's just done other similar interviews.

To me, Ginger is the greatest. So primal and so musical.

    Thanks for the post.

Who's the drummer around 1:46 (British accent?) who said "he's influenced me as a drummer, but not as a person" ?

Truer words were never spoken, and they apply to a fair number of famous musicians (just like any group).

I can't wait to see it. Ginger was the drummer who always knew exactly where to take a jam - how to bring it up and drop it down, always in sync, not leading or following, in sync.

There have been a lot of great drummers who could "swing" or "funk" like no one else, but no one has ever out-powered Ginger Baker in my opinion. He invented the concept of "rolling thunder" drums - so steady, so reliable, so perfect in precision, yet also always ominously building and transforming with tiny additive and substractive changes that were creative yet also perfectly logical like a machine. You never wanted to stop listening to see what would come next and you were never disappointed.

I love opinionated people, though, especially when they deserve to be. he's the Mohammed Ali of drummers; braggert, loudmouth and winner by KO.

    Just amazing.

They say Ginger starts his days with a Morphine INHALER though, because he copes with a lot of Pain....
