Biggest sounding/ lightest combo you've heard?

Not sure if it's age, laziness, or some other factor, but I hate lugging heavy combos and cabs around lately.
Recently picked up a Carr Sportsman, and it sounds great, and weighs around 30-35lbs which is awesome!
It got me thinking about other lightweight, big sounding combos, that could hang in a band setting.
Thoughts?

Why not a small foot print head and a light neo 1x12 cab? For bigger gigs/needs you can also have a 2x12 and/or 4x12 around.

I think there is a moderate correlation between weight and size of sound.

I personally opted for a balance with my SFDR.

I also think the big sound is sometimes a lot of unnecessarily low-lows (more common to big trannies, 6L6 tubes, extra heavy magnets...) that sound great at home, but not as much with other musicians. I did a recording with my SFDR the other day and listened with and without my normal hi-pass setting for guitar in my recording software - hardly any difference because of the gear I use.

So I guess more than a big sound, I look for enough headroom and an amp voiced to fill the midrange pocket that a guitar does best in with bandmates.

my redplate blackloop is a bit bigger than a fender champ, is 40 watts, 35 lbs., and sounds HUGE

for me the lightest and biggest sounding 1x12 is the Mesa 5:50 express.. I'm not just biased cause I own one I have been through a few 1x12 combos and it so far has been my favorite.

I think tweed combos take the cake here. I used to own a Victoria 35310 that had the three speakers in a bassman-sized cabinet. It was really full and fat sounding, good amount of headroom for my situation, and surprisingly easy to carry around.

I've heard a number of small RedPlate combos that were fantastic. Very big sound for such small packages. But I love my old Supros and Nationals and other Valco-made amps! My favorite is my '63 Supro 1688TN (and the clone that I built--2x10, weighs maybe 30-35lbs, 2x6L6)

mesa express 5:25, egnater rebel 30, bogner duende

owned all 3, but the biggest sounding was the duende, which was also the heaviest of the 3.

but there are people like me, who live in nyc, and we have to lug our gear up and down stairs. a hand truck just makes it more inconvenient.

I have a 1x10 Carmen Ghia that I can gig with (5 piece with a drummer). It has a Red Fang 10, which is the only 10 I've had that you really can not tell is a 10... it sounds very big, and it's a much better speaker (IMHO) than the Red Fang 12.

I have a 22 lb Reverend Goblin with a 10" Jensen Neo speaker
that is very LOUD !!! That Speaker is amazing efficient.

Well put, and I'm finding this to be more and more true, the more I play with a band.

Biggest sound I've had was from the 1x12 and 2x12 Mesa combos, but there is nothing "lite" about them. I agree, I think "heavy" and "sounds great" do usually go together.

I was really impressed with my next door neighbor's 1984 Super Champ, and equally impressed with a 1965 Champ with a modded tube screamer in front. WOW!

Oh yea, the Champ had an 8 inch Tone Tubby in it, the Super Champ still has the an EV 10 in it. I think that helps.
