Does a Bigsby Trem detract from your overall guitar tone ? Love what they do but do you think there's a compromise in your overall guitar tone in order to acheive that type of trem effect ?

No. I believe that a Bigsby will just contribute to your overall tone. If you are adding one to a guitar, you can expect a tonal change, but in and of itself, there's nothing about a Bigsby that would create a negative quality to the tone.

I think anytime you put a spring in line with a vibrating string you're going to lose some energy. You no longer have a solid termination for the string, right? That's gonna cost you some sustain.
    Roller bridges suck tone too.

That being said, I love my Bigsby.
If I don't absolutely need it for whatever I'm doing, I take the spring out, and I don't use a roller bridge.
A regular TOM type works fine with a drop of oil on the saddles.

The Bigsby adds to your sound when you use it. It adds Bigsby!
The spring and the roller bridge are a net loss though when you don't use the arm.

    peace

I wondered about that for a long time and finally pulled the trigger and added it to my Les Paul Classic... still sounds great. I don't really notice much tone change if any and I dig having it.
