Bill's always got good tone, but I just love what he's pulling out of this Strat in the NPR Tiny Desk Concert.

Does anyone know anything about what Strat it might be? Vintage? Modded?

Love the clip; I like Bill on a Tele, though.

I don't know about that exact model, other than that it seems pretty 50s styled.

I do know that former Fender Custom Shop guy J.W. Black makes a bunch of guitars for him and works on many of his guitars.

    Absolutely great presentation.
    Thanks for sharing.
I forgot to care about the model of guitar. It's so much more about the music.

If you look closely it used to have 3 knobs. There is a plug or cap where the 3rd knob would be. I've made that mod on strats before.

If it's like the other tiny desk concerts I've seen he's probably playing through npr's house amp, last time I looked it was some kind of epiphone combo.

Cool video, makes me feel a little more justified in my solo with looper gig approach!

He is a great player with humility. I just love most of what he does musically.

    Kind Regards,
    Steve
